Planning

Its Easter 2010 and planning for the Great LA to NY Roadtrip is well underway. My name is Simon, and my daughter Siobhan and me will be travelling in the USA from coast to coast for 3 weeks in Aug/Sep 2010.

Our mode of transport will be a BIG camper van from Cruise America...

We will be flying from Manchester to Newark, New York then catching an onward flight to Los Angeles where we will pick up the van and head back East!!

The idea for the trip came from the film Forrest Gump where he ran across the States. As such we will recreate that (but not by running) by taking in the two end points of his run, the pier at Santa Monica, California and the lighthouse at Marshall Point in Port Clyde, Maine.

We have a few ideas for other stops in between (the Grand Canyon, Elvis's home in Gracelands etc) but the rest of the trip is very much where the road takes us.

This is the first blog entry and we will update you all as the planning and the trip itself takes shape....
